November's Theme

Gathering at the Threshold of Change
Rooting into Rhythm

November carries a different rhythm.

The light is waning. The air is cooling. Leaves are beginning to loosen from their branches with quiet certainty, reminding us that release can be natural, beautiful, and necessary.

November's gathering invites us to slow down enough to hear what is changing within us.

Through rhythm, breath, and shared presence, we will explore the steady wisdom of the season, honoring what is being shed, what is asking for warmth, and what quietly remains beneath it all. The drum becomes a companion here: a steady pulse through transition, a grounding beneath uncertainty, a quiet ember within the waning light.

Benefits of Drumming

Drumming is more than sound, it is regulation. Research shows that steady, repetitive rhythm can support the parasympathetic nervous system, the branch responsible for rest, restoration, and safety. Predictable beat patterns help signal calm to the body, often lowering heart rate and easing stress activation.

Repetitive rhythm can also encourage brainwave entrainment, where the brain begins to synchronize with external sound patterns. This may support shifts into alpha and theta brainwave states, which are associated with relaxation, creativity, and meditative awareness.

Alternating hand drumming engages both hemispheres of the brain, offering a form of bilateral stimulation for integration and processing.

Quite simply, the body understands rhythm. When we drum together, we are not performing, we are regulating, integrating, and remembering our natural cadence.

What to Expect

A drum circle is inspired by the Beings who gather to create a rhythm that is unique to each circle. No one circle ever sounds the same. A typical arc in this drum circle is:

  • opening meditation and intention

  • heartbeat rhythm

  • weaving of affirmations between drumming cycles

The circle typically begins with a “lead” rhythm. Others join in organically to create a community rhythm.

You are invited to bring:

  • any type of drum you choose (and one to share if you would like). If you don’t have a drum, an empty bucket, oatmeal container, or otherwise is just as effective in creating vibration

  • a token of gratitude for our Nature altar

  • meditation cushion, blanket, or other seat that is comfortable for you (chairs will be available)

  • any other tokens that inspire your inner awakening

All ages welcome.
No drumming experience is needed.
Dance is celebrated!
